Why is Minecraft so laggy?
Okay, so a few weeks ago I got a new computer and was super excited because I thought I would be able to play Skyrim and Minecraft with shaders and all that. Finally, Skyrim, the glory! I'll be able to bash the heads of a thousand graphically improved Draugr while wielding a mod-introduced enchanted two-handed dragon-tail sword!
Skyrim is probably one of the top games that require heavy hardware, and I can play that on medium-high settings with an NVIDIA GT 730m--even with an ENB mod. So why is it that Minecraft lags soo much when I introduce the slightest bit of shaders? Is it the Java engine, or is my graphics card not supported?

Your graphics card isn't exactly high-end, it's closer to the low end cards. It's most likely your RAM that's causing the issue.

the 'GT' series is pretty old and not very powerfull when it comes to java engine games. Shaders actually takes more to run than crysis and other extreme graphical games on high to ultra settings. If you want to play with shaders i sugest you get atleast a GTX670 or Radeon saphire 6950 HD edition.
Im currently running shaders at around 400fps dropping to around 130 when recording.
Specs:
i7 Quad core 4.5ghz
Gtx 680x2
16gb corsair vengeance
Try to allocate around 2gb of ram to MC instead of running it in 1gb like it does by default. That helps greatly.

My Minecraft is perfectly fine, and my computer is about 6 years old. It can do Minecraft fine but it can't run Google Chrome xD

Minecraft itself relies heavely on your CPU, shaders on the other hand is VERY graphics card intensive! I run an i7 3770k with a Gtx 660ti and on shaders and I only run at 40 - 70fps. Basic summary = shaders requires too much GPU power. Also some shaderpacks are less intensive than others have a try with all of them. So really, it's just the mod.
