Yeah large servers-like as in servers with multithousand players, are typically not player centered, they want money. Although CubeCraft does happen to break the mold, they may not be as popular, but in thier "golden age" the staff there were quite nice.
The Hytale thing. The title sounds like it came straight from Undertale, and even though you could make the textures look different like in Minecraft, everything still looks ugly (in my opinion) and the only way you could customize your player skin is with the limited amount of clothing options you can pick and choose from. In Minecraft, you can still make your character look different and become anything you want, even a Peridot with a labcoat. In Hytale (or should I say, "Minecraft's Blundertale"), it's only so limited in what you can do with the player model. Unless someone tells me you can change your skin to be anything you want without having to resort to using dinky clothing items, I rest my case.
Also, my deepest sympathies goes out to you getting banned on Hypixel. That's another reason why I don't go on big servers like that anymore. Not because I got banned from there too, but moderators can be too ignorant to their job sometimes on servers like Mineplex.
