I'm running a dual core and it games just as well as a quad core, but for better multitasking get a quad.

What I have is cheap and it runs games at 1280x720 really well (obviously not high end games such as Crysis etc):

Mobo: ECS GeForce7050M-M (runs Minecraft off the intergrated graphics)
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 @ 2.4 GH/z
Memory: 2048mb DDR2 RAM
Graphics: nVidia GeForce 210GT (I also run a nVidia GeForce 9500GT on occasions which is the same specs just slightly more expensive)

Extras (because they look nice heh):

Cyborg V5 Gaming keyboard - £65
Razer Abyssus mouse - £60

I also run it on a 22" TV @ 1920x1080

Yes, as long as the CPU matches the socket type, then it will fit

Run Speccy (free), it should pull up your Mobo make and model, then Google that to get your CPU socket (ie: AM3+ etc). Just buy a CPU of the correct socket

Thus why you save it as a PNG-8 in Photoshop, it's a wonderful trick. Turns my 3mb backgrounds into 230kb

I don't do Minecraft styled backgrounds, I struggle to find any creativity when doing anything Minecraft related as far as graphics go. I will do more backgrounds though for sure, I have a black and red one coming up, if that's dark enough?

I used to, I still prefer it to everything else


Add to the fact that xp does NOT have drives for more hardware that apeared last years.. AND most recent games will not install properly on xp.. XP at best is suited for servers or pc's only used for "officie tasks" nowdays.


This is however, false. You can still install more recent hardware and every game on XP SP3, in fact XP is still just as useable as 7/8 as far as software, games, hardware are concerned. It's a shame they stopped developing it, it is a snazzy little operating system that's very reliable and easy to use.

Every game can play on 8, my Brother's Steam library (which shocked me) is 73 games, he's running 8 64-bit

I use a hotmail service, so does my Brother and a few of my friends with the full release, we're all fine. Are you sure you're putting the passcode in correctly?
