I am going to be totally honest. Asking for donations on the launch of your server really tends to turn people away. Especially requiring donations just to even beta test your server will have people saying "We do not even know anything about your server, why should we donate when there is literally thousands of other (free) servers?"

I am not here to attack you or your server; I would love to check it out. But I do not know a single thing about it. I hope your unique business model is a success. Now keep in mind your are following the EULA as you are allowed to charge players for access to your server as mojang allows it. But here is some advice/ideas to possibly get people hooked:

I would set up bungeecord so you can essentially link multiple servers together. Then you can have a free "trial" server for players to come join and get familiar with your server. Like a micro version of your primary map but with limited features. But please don't put too many restrictions on "trial" players. Let them have fun. So the way you have it now is players pretty much sign up for premium access to get maps and other cool stuff. But what if you created a bungee server where players could play for free at the main "Hub" aka "Trial Area" and then you charge a flat rate for entrance to other servers (maps).

For example: Let's say you run a minigames server. At the hub you provide basic minigames but you also charge, let's say $0.99 for access to a "Factions" server (map). You could whitelist the players that can join that have paid the 99 cents. Or for an even simpler option you could create an area in your hub only players that have paid can enter, then it will take you to the portal. You would have to use WG blocked-commands flag and block the "/server" command. If you do not then anyone could automatically tp to the paid server. Then you would have to install a bungeeportals plugin. Create a portal in the restricted area, make sure only donors can enter this area. Upon donation you could give them access via permission or otherwise to the area so only the can enter the "restricted" area.
Then you can have multiple options for players and the possibility for a greater income from donations. You can also sell the cosmetic perks separately to make that much more. Also this is all EULA compliant, meaning you will not be victim of the 1.9.3+ "blacklist".

Another thing to remember is if you are going to charge for access you need to have lot's and lot's of cool and unique builds/structures. If you charge someone for access to a seed generated server they will be pretty ticked, no matter how cool the seed is. But if you have amazing builds and awesome features the players will feel better about handing you their (most often parents) money. Give the players their money's worth, don't jipp them.

Lastly, I feel as if you're asking for donations to cover hosting costs. I say this because I use a company called Ownage Hosting for my server the Hermes Realms Network. They have pretty incredible deals starting at $1.50 for 512MB. They also offer a wide variety of services alongside Minecraft. I have been dealing with them for quite awhile anytime I've had a problem they took care of me within 24hours they are very professional and courteous. I would recommend them to anyone. I hope you atleast give players a free trial even if it's just a day or two. Even some screenshots would help your case my friend. Please don't take this reply as me trying to troll you or something, I only want to give you my best advice.

foulblade1I have a small PvP raiding custom nodded server with about 7 players I have started this month and plan to grow it bigger. Very rare and well kept server as I fix any issues in minutes. Age 22 using Real true PvP pack from technic ( I created)

We have Anti-Grief Survival where PvP & Griefing is disabled. No-Rules Survival where griefing, raiding, and looting is allowed. And then of course Peaceful Survival. This is an Anti-Grief Survival set in "Peaceful" Game Mode. If you get bored we have over a dozen other games to choose from. Quake, CTF, Factions, SkyBlock, Creative Plots, Parkour, Casinos, and Much More!

As a parent of a 5 year old, I would allow her to play minecraft..offline. No servers at all, too many creeps out there. When she is older I would allow it but only after she understands online privacy, and not to give out names or locations things like that.
Anyways now she watches me play it for hours and loves it. It doesn't matter what mode the mobs don't scare her and she understands it's just a game. The violence isn't really a big issue, I just had to explain the game to her and tell her they were monsters. We live on a farm, she understands where food comes from. So killing the animals is no biggie.
You should have created a poll that would get you some statistics to present in your paper.

Hey I am thinking of adding an anime server to the hub with the 2.0 update in the coming months. I do not know much about anime so I was hoping you could help with the planning phase. I would just need your ideas, and suggestions for the server. And we would brainstorm things we could add, objectives, goals, etc.
Also we would use a texture pack to give it a true anime look.

I am waiting for my domain nameservers to be configured with enjin. Then a day or so building the website. Then we launch. I am hoping that day is Friday. Fingers-crossed!

Yes, I have spent plenty of time in front of a microphone, I will be in front of one tomorrow to record the weekly podcast. Me and my friend use a sound/recording booth, with condenser microphones. Also I have editing knowledge so you will get two versions, edited & raw.
I would like to know more about the project, possibly some script and animation samples. I would also like to see a the bio of the character as well as a image. This will help me get into character.

Awesome It will most likely be this coming week I am waiting on a new mic lol. But I am debugging my server tonight and tomorrow, Toward the end of the week we can hop on it just to play some survival. Also what is your timezone? I am CST, knowing this might help figure out a good time to hop on the server together.
