IE 10 can be a very nice option, and it shouldn't get as bad criticism as it does, IE10 is actually pretty fluid, and I like the whole pinning websites to the desktop. The auto-correct is also fairly handy.

For those of you convinced it doesn't, IE does have ad block & private browsing, as well as nearly every browser, so please don't use that as a reason.

    (Devil's advocate, I use chrome)

Not possible. You HAVE to have hardware in order to record xbox gameplay, don't use a camera pointed at the screen, just buy a Dazzle or a Roxio Game cap if you are short on money, if not get an ElGato or HD PVR.

1.Fraps: costs less than $40, it is "resource intensive", but you need a good computer for any software to record at high quality
    2. Dxtory: good quality, and not sure about the price.

Nothing else is worth your time as of now, if you wan't high quality, and your computer can handle it.

As for those of you that claim fraps is laggy, you should not be recording if you can't handle a decent recording software.

Why would you run a nvidia card on an AMD cpu?
Also you might want to update to the FX-8350, so you get 8 FULL cores instead of those mock-up 8 cores in an 8150

The x11 with dss is around that price, so if you want the Dolby Digital Surround, you get it with that.( I find the x12s uncomfortable)

If you budget is 1k, then don't go for a 5400rpm hard drive with such a low Ghz processor, find one with an ssd, or a 7200 rpm.

Personally, if you want a gaming laptop I suggest the ASUS G75VW laptop, and I realize it is a little over your budget, but I think that $200 extra you spent gives you one of the highest performing gaming laptop out there.

Enough Windows vs Mac crap... this thread has nothing to do with it....... I am mad that I picked a crucial over a samsung, my windows experience index would be 8.1 if it wasn't for the 7.8 that the ssd achieved.

If you have performance boosts, the cpu doesn't have to work as hard to get the results it was getting before, I also suggest GameBooster.

No, not really, he came in there and basically called me an idiot, on a topic he has no idea about. I am tired of people saying windows 8 is bad, when they have neglected to even try it, they just listen to speculation by more people that have not tried it.

I know that there will be problems with graphic design and windows, just that I wanted windows for a desktop, so I can do most of the graphic design, and have the software compatibility. I may end up getting a Macbook Pro later, this is just my desktop.

On a side note, the program Start8 puts the "start button" back and it is the same thing as it is in windows 7, I believe it is $5, but they let you have it for 30 days free (there is also free software, I just like Start8). I find it that I hardly use the old start menu anymore, the metro thing really grows on you, and software does not have to be retrieved from the windows store, contrary to popular belief.

PS: if you can not pay for the start8, just get it for 30 day trial, and by the end you most likely will prefer the metro UI anyways.

PSS: it looks like you are unfamiliar with the fact that the metro UI IS just the start menu, and you go to the desktop from there when you click on a program or the desktop button(except ones bought in the windows store).

Do you have, or even have tried windows 8, if not, I am going to stop you right there, and I would like you to jump off of a bridge.

I would recommend building a pc, I spent around $1300 for my computer, and it beat out the TOP tier alienware (all the best upgrades) with 1/3 of the price ( theirs was $3799), building a computer is very easy, mostly just plugging in cords.

PS: You should know a good bit about computers/ your computer if you want a gaming desktop, and if you know anything about desktops, its that they are easy to build, and if you want to be a real pc gamer, don't buy pre-built because it makes you look unexperienced.

I like laptops fore some occasions, but they are much more expensive for what you are getting, and I prefer to build my own desktops(partially because it is fun) because then I can only blame myself for anything wrong( the old phrase, if you want it done right, do it yourself).

Once again, those were not the deals I had on the hardware, it doesn't let you load the cart that you paid for, what you are seeing is my searching on listmania for the same hardware, reguardless of the price.

I also chose the quad core over hexa-core because the benchmark results show little to no improvement, and the compatibly of the quad core made it a better choice for me(especially the price difference). I also have not had good experiences with amd hardware, so I chose to stay away from it, I also feel that their chipsets are not as long lasting as what I have gotten from intel(not to mention they do awful on benchmarks, reguardless of how they perform in a real-world setting).

The SSD is only for the OS, and extremely important software, other than that, it is on my HDD.
