I advertised on my server's forums- it's a good idea to play on a well known server and make a name for yourself. I posted some gameplays and montages to start with- slowly gained popularity while doing videos strictly for fun instead of the fame. My channel suddenly picked up due to the fact that I was one of the smarter players, I came up with strategies nobody else did and my name got spread around. I had a decent amount of followers at that point, then I switched to doing commentaries (a very rough start), and even though I started badly that led to me gaining a lot more subs. Keep it fresh, try your best to make people laugh, and the subs will come rolling in.
