Those of the Deep
a poem written very quickly

When sand sways from sea to shore
I feel the current catch my oar
I dare to look beyond the dark
down beyond the oceans lark

I see their eyes, glowing in plum
They mock me and taunt me and have their fun
The sun goes down, the sky goes black
The chills and hairs run don my back

And now they come my time is nigh
The fish do feed theres nowhere to hide
But then my keel, it hits the reef
tonight i evade, those of the Deep



So, The Kraken. Despite being such a widely-known mythical creature I was pretty surprised at the lack of Kraken- themed mob skins I found when looking through the other entries for this competition. I really did not know where I was taking this skin. I started with a very blue version of what you see right now, but it just didnt look right. I actually kept some of the blue in his tentacles(yes theyre meant to be tentacles, not spikes.), i thought it would give a bit more of a contrast to the skin so you can see whats going on much more clearly. After a few tries at making a this skin(this is my first take on a redesigning a mob so i was a little confused), i decided to look at some artists depictions of what the ancient kraken may have looked like if it had existed. I came across this image, apparently from a dungeons and dragons game idk. Image is pretty cool but im not sure what the deal is with copyright for dungeons and dragons artwork so if you wanna see it just message me. Towards the last like 10 minutes of finishing this skin off I added some purple eyes and what I guess is supposed to be energy resonating from within the Kraken. Again i just wanted to give it some more contrast but it also adds a sense of mystery to my depiction of the Kraken. Is this energy some sort of magical power? Is it an energy source powering an animatronic of the Kraken invented by a mad man who just wants to be loved?(actuallly i think that was an episode of Gravity Falls right?) I dont know if im gonna keep this whole skin-making thing up cuz I got exams coming up.... oh youre still reading? Wow you must really like this skin if youre this intrieged by text. Anyway ENJOY! Or not i just make skins for the thrill of it!
