The mines that surround Cyrennica previously were used to supply the city with previous minerals that could be traded. It was these minerals that provided the city with its economic power of the rest of the world. When war broke out however the mines were abandoned. The miners having being drafted into the army they were left empty. Abandoned. Ready for the taking. This is exactly what happened. Bandits stole the mines and now inhabit them, selling the minerals for their own personal gain, slaughtering those who may come near, in fear that Cyrennica may send an army to take back their source of income.
