With the rise of Chinese naval power in the South China Sea combined with advanced area denial weapons, the US Navy faced the prospect of it's large carriers being vulnerable to enemy fire when operating close enough to strategic islands to provide support for ground assault. At the same time, the Zumwalt-class had failed to provide useful gun support and had limited anti-ship capability. A new ship was needed, one more protected against hostile fire while carrying enough weaponry to reliable support a Marine or Army assault force. Thus, the battleship was reborn as the arsenal ship Arizona-class, in honor of the USS Arizona that remains to this day at the bottom of Pearl Harbor.

This is a redux of my previous modern battleship I made 5 years ago after visiting the USS Massachusetts. This I visited that ship again as well as the USS New Jersey, so I returned to the idea of a modern BB. I combined elements of the Zumwalt, DDG(x), and Iowa class into the exterior while factoring in the Ford-class and Arleigh-Burke-class for the interior design as well. This took about two months of working a bit each day, with the interior taking up the majority of that time. Please, download and explore the ship. It is completely filled out as best as I could based on what I thought a modern large ship would have.
