Level 34 : Artisan Artist

I am using this map for a private project of mine, and I decided to share the map! That is why it is called "Horror Forest", it is not scary until I add the stuff I am going to. This is not a horror map. I have not built the bridges or campsites yet, so you can finish it yourself the way you want it. If you want me to add more pictures, just say so and I will add more for people to see! The map is 1,152 by 1,152 blocks, as it says in the title. The map is for 1.12.2.

There is a swamp, a lot of forest, a few lakes and streams, mountains surrounding the map to cover up the edges of it, a mountain by the swamp, two small campsites, and one big one. Yes, the map is based off of the steam game, RAKE.

Have fun with it using the rules below:

This map is awesome! This is what i have searched for 3 weeks! And it's perfectly for my plans! If you know horror game "The Rake" where you arrived to forest and have to hunt this creature, so i want to recreate this game to a minigame to play with my friends.

This map looks almost the same as in that game so I'm very glad that you made it! I'm going to add some things
to improve the game atmosphere (abandoned buildings and ruins, camp where you get your equipment, cameras 
and weapons mods, and a bit of shaders.) If i would record it for youtube or something, 
I definitely will leave link to your page in description! Thanks you a lot! Good luck in improvement your map!

I think you did the wrong thing by surrounding everything with rocks and leaving an empty space inside the island. Looks a little "bald"

There is a lot of trees, though. I added them so it didn't look boring. I understand it may seem a little boring, still. What could I add to improve it?

I'm certainly not a master in this matter, but I think that first you should replace all the usual trees with custom ones. I also think that it would be better to make it all the same the island is not desirable such a square. Because I believe that this is usually done in order to take a separate part of the territory, and not to create a separate landscape. I think it will be nice to do more in the middle of making a mountain or look my post "big lake"

I actually did make custom trees, I just made them very similar to the vanilla ones because I thought
it would be nice. I made the trees look a lot better for half of them, but the other half don't look super great. I don't quite get what you are saying about the square shape of the map, I'm assuming you are saying it should be an island. I'm not trying to be rude, I just am having a hard time figuring out what you mean.

My wording may not be clear to you due to the fact that I am from Russia and used to speak my native language and formulate sentences in it. At the expense of your trees, I think that they are too vanilla to work with WorldPaint. By square map I meant that it looks very unrealistic because these mountains have never been and you are unlikely to find a place surrounded by mountains in the form of a square. I believe that if you want to make such mountains you need to come up with a variety of different forms for mountains. Yes and when WorldPaint cuts the maps the mountains no longer look beautiful from all sides

I see what you mean. Thank you for the advice. I personally don't worry too much about the shape the mountains, I just kind of make them. I do like your advice, though! I will probably try to remember to consider what you said with my next map.
