Background Info
Over the course of starting and failing to get stuck into making a Minecraft map for at least a year, I finally decided to team up with one of my friends (click here to see his YouTube channel) and create a new type of map that I hadn't done before. Being an avid redstone fan, I wanted to do something involving command blocks that could be put to use for some sort of fun for others to enjoy, so we decided to create a PvP map that uses teams. So, the idea went ahead, and we have finally got down to business and we are quite some way into the creation of the map.

Map Design & Layout
The map layout is primarily based around floating islands, with bridges connecting them together. The central island, named Tree Island, has a giant, climbable tree for players to traverse whilst in battle. However, there are other things to discover on other islands, too, such as caves and cliffs to explore, and perhaps a little easter egg every now and again.

Team Mechanics
There are two teams - red and blue - each with a maximum of 4 players. However, if the host chooses to play the game instead of spectating, he is put on a random team, so one team might have 5 players. If you don't want uneven teams, you'll have to find a host that is willing to be co-operative and wants to spectate the match. Each team has the same equipment to start off with so that it is fair for everybody. The leaderboard shows the amount of kills each player has, but to distinguish whether they are on the blue team or the red team, you'll have to look at the colour of their username. Until we can find a way to teleport the teams separately, the teams will spawn in the same place but will be invincible for about 30 seconds so that they can split up a bit before getting into the action.

Gamerules/Commands
You (or an operator) may need to enter the following commands in order to get the best experience out of the map:
/gamerule doMobSpawning false
/gamerule doMobLoot false
/gamerule commandBlockOutput false
/gamerule doDaylightCycle false
/gamerule keepInventory true
