Biome Arena for the PMC & MCSG Survival Games Contest.
I have made an arena with a theme of biomes, there being nine of them. There should be 202 chests; a few or so can only be found by breaking through blocks, probably about 4. I used the grass starter-template with a 500 block radius, and part of the glass dome was replaced with Bedrock so you couldn't break through.
Biomes and their features:
Pine Forest: The area of the spawn, hills with pine/spruce trees on them. 24 spawn podiums and 24 chests. There is a bedrock room here for staff on a server, there being a Spectate Mode option, and an option for clearing Spectate Mode. (Spectate Mode is basically infinite Invisibility and Creative Mode for flying. The Clear Spectate Mode option removes the Invisibility and changes your gamemode to Survival. Only staff, or people that can fly, can get inside, as the only way in is by using the command block on top)
Hills: The green area with hills. Two dungeons are hidden here, one being a creeper dungeon, the creepers having a %100 chance of dropping four arrows when killed. There is also a dirt hut, not saying what's inside, and a house good enough for Steve.
Desert: The area with cacti and some hills. There are holes here that let you fall into the void, so pay attention to where you are going. There is a sort-of castle with some good loot, and this castle is surrounded by mountain-like walls of sand. There is a ladder for you to climb over these walls, though.
Forest: A forest with a large expanse of trees and lot's of dark areas. There is one hill here. Zombies and Skeletons may spawn, along with angry wolves and Creepers that are like the Creepers in the dungeon from the hills area.
Nether: The title says all. Netherrack and lava almost everywhere, and a sort-of dungeon made out of quartz and has blazes. The dungeon has iron doors at its entrances, you'll need to find the levers to them.
Mushroom: Giant Mushrooms almost everywhere. Hills and a dirt-hut, not saying what's inside.
Extreme Hills: Cool and weird hills. A slime dungeon at one end, you'll need to find the lever to the door. Trees in some places. One very small dungeon room is hidden here, you'll need to look for it yourself.
Jungle Swampland: Lot's of swamp trees and one Jungle tree, a dock with 3 boats that is on the Hills-area side. There is a witch hut here with an invincible witch that cannot despawn, unless of course you set the difficulty to peaceful. (Which you shouldn't)
Winter Hills: In my opinion, the best area, probably because Winter is my favorite season. Snow mountain walls allowing you to only enter through one side, or just climb over them if you can. A small house and a Snowman Head with a bit of loot, and ofcourse the Ice and Snow mountains. A small dungeon-thing is hidden, with Frost Zombies & Skeletons
That's all. Some chests are easy to find, some are not, and some can be seen easily but are hard to get to. Tell me if there's anything wrong with the map.
Tools used: WorldEdit for terraforming and a few other things such as trees, and also for counting the amount of chests. I also had VoxelSniper installed, although I didn't use it since it seemed to not work with 1.5.2 yet, the brush command not working, but I didn't uninstall it while making the map.
commandBlockOutput: true
doFireTick: true
doMobLoot: true
doMobSpawning: false (They still spawn from spawners)
doTileDrops: true
keepInventory: false
mobGriefing: false
You may need to change the default gamemode to survival.
