La cathédrale Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul de Nantes (appelée aussi localement « cathédrale Saint-Pierre ») est une cathédrale catholique située place Saint-Pierre, à Nantes (Loire-Atlantique). C'est la cathédrale du diocèse de Nantes, siège de l’évêque de Nantes. Sa construction s’est étalée sur 457 ans, de 1434 à 1891, mais ces délais n’altèrent en rien la qualité ni la cohérence de son style gothique. Elle est classée monument historique depuis 1862.

La cathédrale est touchée par les bombardements de Nantes, une bombe en 1944 atteint la sacristie de la cathédrale et endommage considérablement l’abside et trois chapelles. Durant les travaux de restauration, un incendie accidentel se déclare le 28 janvier 1972, et détruit la plus grande partie de la toiture. La restauration de l'édifice dure jusqu'en 1985. Un nouvel incendie, d'origine criminelle, le 18 juillet 2020, détruit l'orgue du XVIIe siècle, le grand vitrail de la façade ouest posé en 1498, représentant la duchesse-reine Anne et sa mère ainsi que divers éléments du mobilier.

Lorsque la cathédrale est en restauration pendant plusieurs années, les célébrations ont alors lieu à la chapelle Notre-Dame-de-l'Immaculée-Conception.

Depuis le 11 août 2020 le siège épiscopal est tenu par Mgr Laurent Percerou.

The Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul de Nantes cathedral (also known locally as “Saint-Pierre cathedral”) is a Catholic cathedral located on Place Saint-Pierre, in Nantes (Loire-Atlantique). It is the cathedral of the diocese of Nantes, seat of the bishop of Nantes. Its construction spanned 457 years, from 1434 to 1891, but these delays in no way alter the quality or the consistency of its Gothic style. It has been classified as a historical monument since 1862.

The cathedral is affected by the bombardments of Nantes, a bomb in 1944 reached the sacristy of the cathedral and damaged the apse and three chapels. During the restoration work, an accidental fire broke out on January 28, 1972, and destroyed most of the roof. The restoration of the building lasts until 1985. A new fire, of criminal origin, on July 18, 2020, destroyed the organ of the 17th century, the large stained glass window on the west facade installed in 1498, representing the Duchess-Queen Anne and her mother as well as various pieces of furniture.

When the cathedral is under restoration for several years, the celebrations then take place at the chapel of Notre-Dame-de-l'Immaculée-Conception.

Since August 11, 2020 the episcopal see has been held by Bishop Laurent Percerou.
