This is my design of a clock. I decided to compact it down as much as I could and came up with what I believe to be are some of the smallest 7-segment displays with a piston tape.

Each number display is 10 blocks long, 8 blocks high, and 5 blocks wide. They each contain a carry output to another display. This includes the 10-number version and the 12-number version.

This is so compact because of the new feature with comparators providing and output from cauldrons. Cauldrons can also a have multiple states, such as empty, 1/3 full, 2/3 full, and completely full. This allows 5 rings of cauldrons to control 7-segments.

The clock keeps real time: just set it to whatever time you want it to be, flip the lever, and go. No command blocks are used and is fully vanilla.

The world download contains the clock with and without casing around it, and one of the 7-segment displays set aside. Feel free to explore the world and copy and expand on this!

Caldurons as 4-states memory cells! Very ingegnous and extremely compact!

Very cool concept. I am curious as to how you can control all 7 segments with only 5 rings of data. How do these 5 ring interact so that all the numbers look right? I'm not on my gaming computer right now, so I can't download the world and take a look for myself :P

Cauldrons can output three states from a comparator: signal strength 1, signal strength 2, and signal strength 3. If I wanted one cauldron to control two segments, I would have a redstone line 2 blocks long, with repeaters connected to both peices of redstone dust. If I wanted both to activate, I would have my cauldron full, providing enough signal strength to reach both repeaters. If I wanted one to activate, I'd leave the cauldron at 1/3 full, outputting enough strength to 1 repeater.

If that made sense, great, if it didn't, look at the world download :D

You can empty cauldrons by clicking on it with glass bottles; each glass bottle removes 1/3 of the cauldron
