Also, what tool did you use for making the river, where you just cut the land out, turned it to sand, and filled it with water?

VoxelSniper ;P It's a land editing tool made by TheVoxelBox, it's a plugin for bukkit servers only, it's quite hard to get the hang of, but if you watch a few videos then you will easily learn how to use it. It's very useful for fixing up land and making it look more natural:)
