These builds are based on Dutch prehistoric floor-plans from the Bronze Age. Note that they are not scaled accurately and that the outside of the houses are just my interpretation and not based on any factual houses or reconstructions, though I did take inspiration from those. I used 4 different floor-plans for inspiration:




- North-Netherlands - Middle Bronze Age

- West-Frisia - Middle Bronze Age

- Type Elp - Late Bronze Age

- Type 3 Boxmeer




These kind of houses were typical for the Netherlands during the Bronze Age. These are not simply houses but rather living-stables (woonstalhuizen) in which cattle and people lived together in two compartments. The houses usually have two or three entrances: one on the far end to let the cattle in and out and one or two on the long side about three quarters on where one could enter and go to either side for either the living space or the stable. The advantage of this is that the cattle would also generate warmth that would spread to the living quarters of the house.

Inside these houses, usually right in the middle, the people kept a fireplace to stay warm during the nights and to cook their meals and possibly things like their pottery too. There are also theories that the people did their crafting inside their houses: this would have been done near the door to still get enough light from outside. This theory is based on finds near entrances, other theories that explain this trash concentration is quite simple: people would sweep their floors and the trash would end up there.
