The F/A-18C/D Hornet is a multi-role Naval Fighter derived from the YF-17 Multirole Fighter. Used by the USN and a variety of foreign Air Forces, the F/A-18 was made for the F/A-X program, intended to replace the F-14 Tomcat. The US Navy eventually replaced the F/A-18's with upgraded F/A-18E/F Super Hornets, while a number of Hornets remain in service with the Air Forces of Switzerland, Canada, Australia, Finland, Kuwait, Malaysia and Spain.
