Fengtian Hall (奉天殿) is the original version of today's Taihe Hall (or Hall of Supreme Harmony, 太和殿), it was built in 1420 and was once the largest wooden structure building in East Asia.
But it only existed for a few months. In 1421, the Fengtian Hall (奉天殿) was struck by lightning and burned down. It was rebuilt in 1436 and 1441. On May 11, 1557, it was struck by lightning again and burned down. The reconstruction was completed in 1562 and renamed Huangji Hall (皇極殿), which is only two thirds of the size of the original Fengtian Hall, so it was smaller than the base of the original building. It was burned again in 1597 and rebuilt in 1627.
In 1645, Qing Dynasty period, it was renamed Taihe Hall (太和殿). In 1679, the Taihe Hall was burned down again. It was rebuilt in 1695 and 1697, and the two sides of the building were changed into firewalls
According to the records from The Veritable Records of the Ming Dynasty and the habits of traditional Chinese architecture (the scale of buildings should cover the base), Its original scale was 95.1m × 47.55m, to today's 63.96m × 37.2m. I built it in Minecraft in 2:1 scale, and I spent a lot of time in searching historical records, 3D model by contemporary architectural study and making color paintings in Minecraft.
