How to play to Focus Reborn ?


Focus Reborn is a rework of an old PvP Minecraft map originally created by Tagazok & Eddytor. Our new map can support between 2 and 80 players (yes, that’s a lot), even if I recommend you to play in small committee :D

The goal is to fulfill the winning condition before the other players/teams. To do this, you must be the last one alive at the end of a round to win it. When you’ve won X rounds (configurable), you are the winner.

To spice up your games, everything is allowed. Indeed, if you and other players are about to lose, you are allowed to team up against the team in the lead and prevent them from winning (and maybe steal the win).

In addition to that, you have various maps with funny themes, and a system of equipment that will progress throughout the game. All that makes Focus Reborn a fun PvP map that will entertain you and your friends for hours long.


What is the equipment system ?


I previously talked about an equipment system that evolves throughout the game. Indeed, you will be able to get points that will allow you to upgrade your equipments (sword, axe, bow, arrows and armors).

You will get points by killing players, winning rounds, or just playing. You can then, between each rounds, upgrade your equipments from these points.

Beware, it is not possible to cancel an improvement!! It is however possible to customize the number of points/kill, points/round, points/roundWin and points at the start of the game.

What are the game specifities ?


Maps


Focus Reborn currently has 6 maps available, each one of them have their own theme, lore and specificities. In addition to this, you can choose to play with ambient music specific to each of the maps (may cause lags).

If you want to disable some them for any reason, you can do so from the hub (before starting the game).

Healing platforms


The healing platforms are present on each map, they are in the form of a green disk with a beacon beam at the center and they allow you to receive every minute (0:00, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, etc.), if you are in the radius of action (green disk), a heal of X hearts (configurable).

You do not need to load the heal for 1min, you just need to be there when it is given.

Deathmatch


The deathmatch is here to accelerate the ends of rounds that could last forever. Indeed, during this one, the heals will be disabled, the border will start to shrink and players still alive will receive a glowing effect.

Note that it’s possible to configure from the control room :
- the time before the deathmatch begins,
- enable/disable edge shrinkage,
- whether to give or not to the remaining players a glowing effect.

Team


I've mentionned it earlier, but it is possible to play as a team in thisnew version of Focus. To do this, you can either:
- Manually increase the maximum number of players per team from the control room (before starting the game) and then start the game.
- Launch a game via the randomizer. You will be asked to choose the number of teams you want. Imagine that you are 9, and you want to make 3 teams of 3, you just have to choose [​3] teams.

Note that it is not necessary to make teams balanced in order to start a game (Ex: 3 teams of 2 and 1 team of 3).

Customisation


As seen before, the map is highly configurable, you can:
- Configure the winning condition,
- Configure the deathmatch (time before activation, border, glowing),
- Change the maximum number of players by team and activate or not the friendly in them,
- Change the number of hearts regenerated by the healing platform every minute,
- Give constant glowing to the team that is about to win (1 round before winning) or not,
- Activate or not the music on the maps,
- Display each player’s heart count above their head,
- Activate or deactivate the maps you want according to your desires,
- And customise points you received by killing, winning round, ...

Achievements


You can also get achivements while playing on the map, it's a small addition that I hope will please some :D


Recommendations to play :


- First, we recommend you to try a Game without editing the default parameters, before trying to adjuste them.

- Then, you need to know that we beta test our map only on server running on Paper (personnaly, i thinks it's the best option for performance when not playing SMP).

- And finally, i've previously said that the PVP was spam clicking like the 1.8, but we greatly encourage you to use the plugin OldCombatMechanics which is a great plugin for getting back the feelings of 1.8 PVP mechanincs (like cooldown, hitbox, arrows randomness, ...).
=> Here is the config file we were using during the beta test.


Future update ?


We already started to think about futher update who will implement new maps, new weapons, new win conditions and maybe bonus items (like mario kart) obtainable during round to spice up your parties.

However, the map was entirely made during the summer break, so we wanted to post a first version of our work before getting back to work... (And receive some feedbacks).

Futhermore, we're waiting to see what's going to be announced for the 1.20 in order to plan a port to this version if we can use new fun game mechanics.
