Current download is from: 11.04.2024 (11th of April)

Please let me know if you would be interested in contributing to the building! I am sure that the monastery will be finished a lot sooner with help, and I know lots of you are passionate FE fans, so any support would be appreciated.

The current progress includes:
  • Marketplace and front gate (complete)
  • Gatekeeper's post (complete, lol)
  • Entrance Hall (100% complete)
  • Fishing Pond (100% complete)
  • Stables (100% complete)
  • Dining Hall (100% complete)
  • Greenhouse (100% complete)
  • Dorms F1 (100% complete)
  • Gardens and amiibo Gazebo
  • Reception Hall (100% complete)
  • Knights' Hall (100% complete)
  • Officers Academy (100% complete)
  • Third Floor (~50% complete, Balcony complete, Rhea's room left to make)
  • Sauna (Exterior complete)

Yes, of course I am aware that many other people have begun Garreg Mach recreation projects, and in some cases have even finished building the whole map. I have to admire the effort that has gone into each of these projects, and I would support public releases of them fully, but I still feel justified in beginning my own project, for a number of reasons.

  • A lack of downloadable maps - I have been unable to find a single downloadable Garreg Mach, even unfinished, despite the great number of builders working on them.
  • Scale - ideally I believe that Garreg Mach should feel consistent with its original depiction in scale, so that the map feels at home in Minecraft, or else it will be less fun to walk around.
  • Detail - as time goes on, we are all fortunate enough to have access to more recent blocks and building techniques as new Minecraft updates release. Recent updates in particular have introduced useful blocks like candles and copper, which I hope will make it easier to portray Garreg Mach's medieval setting more faithfully. In addition, while I don't consider myself a particularly skilled builder, I have the support of capable friends to bounce ideas off of, and as a result I hope to be able to maintain a high attention to detail.
  • Following - As a skin creator who posts primarily Fire Emblem skins, I know that my following is interested in seeing Garreg Mach reach completion, and there is the possibility of group work or even an open project here as a result.
  • Why not? - It shouldn't matter if multiple people release their own interpretations of Garreg Mach Monastery. I am sure that each one will have areas where it is unique and will be preferred by some people over another interpretation.
Finally, I want to state my intentions clearly regarding the sharing of the project - while I cannot guarantee that I will finish building the entirety of the monastery, and I believe it would be foolish to say so, my promise to you is that I will try to maintain an up-to-date download link of the most recent version of the project, especially if I find myself losing motivation. If I go missing for, let's say, two years, and there is no news on the project, then at that point I leave it to the wider community to take my work and continue in my stead. I don't want to leave behind lots of pretty screenshots and then forget all about the project, leaving everyone hanging. If you do choose to continue the project because I have become inactive, any efforts to reach out to me, for example via PMC message, would be appreciated, in case I do return at some point.

4 Update Logs

Update #4 - Reception Hall, Officers' Academy, Knights' Hall, Rhea's Balcony : by fire emblem man yes 04/11/2024 2:30:30 pmApr 11th

Once again, apologies for the long wait. However, since the last update I have completed the Reception Hall and built the Officers' Academy (including the classrooms) the Knights' Hall, the third floor balcony and the exterior of the Sauna. With this, the exterior parts of the monastery are almost complete. I would recommend redownloading the map to get a better picture of everything that has changed.

This leaves the cathedral and the tournament grounds, as well as many of the interior areas like the second floor rooms, remaining dorms and potentially Abyss.

I hope you enjoy seeing everything that has been added!

Good to know that ever assuming you've hit your peak is patently false, since every single time I look back you've done something even more impressive than the last time.

Thank you, it's been months since I've realistically had time to work on anything, but it means a lot, this project has been really fun to work on, even if it hasn't been consistent. I actually have made some progress since the last update, but it didn't feel like enough to post yet, and as I've said before I'm always open to people wanting to help out. Mostly, I really appreciate the positive comments, I still don't really know how my account got to this point, but things just come along with time, I suppose.

I love the progress, my biggest question is do you intend to include abyss in the project? I would love it all the more if you did.

Thanks for showing interest, yes I am interested in doing Abyss once the main monastery is done, I love the Ashen Wolves and it's a neat little enclosed area so hopefully it wouldn't be too complicated once everything else is done.

I'm just coming up to another break from studies, so hopefully I will have more time to work on the build; the past two months have been very intensive for me and this is why I haven't been posting any skins or build progress.

Do you have a floor plan of the monestary's exterior- the areas the player isn't allowed to explore? I can't find any of it and the game's cutscene pictures are incredibly inconsistent.

No, I'm afraid I don't.
While there are several maps in the game which take place around the extended Garreg Mach area, like the sealed grounds where you fight Solon or the Battle for Garreg Mach and Chasing Daybreak maps, it doesn't seem possible to put them into consistent spatial context.
You are right, I believe, that cutscenes showing the monastery can be inconsistent and difficult to use, although there are some moments like the Wailing cutscene where the playable area can be briefly seen.

I only intend to build the parts of the monastery which are visible in-engine during exploration though, which is convenient because there aren't many background elements in the distance, with the exception of the mountains around the cathedral and also the area behind the Knight's Hall. I don't know of a freecam mod for Three Houses, but if it exists or is ever made, I would gladly use it to look at those areas and get different camera angles.

I'd also like to address the lack of progress on the map, which is mostly due to moving to university and the associated workload. I'm not sure when I'll next update the map, but I am and have always been open to the help of anyone interested in working on the building.
