UPDATE: I'm very sorry to say that I accidentally deleted the save files and resources for this build a few months ago, so all that exists are these images and the video I made :(.
My resource pack used in the video, Savannah2970, can be downloaded here. Use it to get the full effect seen in the video (including the cool hologram seen at 0:47).
Disclaimer: the resource pack is experimental, incomplete, and VERY large - use at your own risk. If you do not have a lot of RAM, it probably will crash the game. Give it 5 minutes to load when starting up Minecraft. I will not be making a low-res version of this pack, so please do not ask.
The experimental texture pack I've been working on includes what I believe to be one of the first 3D holograms in Minecraft (see the video). It is a pre-rendered 3D model that has been split into 4 animated blocks with 160 256x256 frames each. You most likely need at least 4 Gig of RAM and a good CPU for it to work.
I am interested in hard science fiction, and designed this starship as an extrapolation of where technology may take us in the far future.
HFS Glen Roy is a Home Fleet long-range cruiser stationed near Earth. Named after a valley in Scotland, she is the first Edinburgh-class starship. Capable of traveling over 2000 times the speed of light, Glen Roy is the fastest moving object ever built.
