The Imperator Aleksandr II class was a two ship strong battleship class of the imperial russian navy, built between 1885 and 1891. The two ships (Imperator Aleksandr II and Imperator Nikolai I) had two very different careers. Imperator Aleksandr II served actively in the Baltic until the beginning of the russian revolution, where she joined the soviet side and fought her last campaign before being scrapped in 1922. Imperator Nikolai I however was to suffer a rather different fate. She was sent to the russian far east during the Russo-Japanese-War (1904-1905) with the third pacific squadron. After being damaged at the battle of Tsushima and surrendering afterwards, she was recommissioned in the imperial japanese navy under her new name: "Iki". She was sunk as a target by her new owners in 1915. Upon commissioning they were armed with 2x12 inch (30.5cm) main guns, aswell as with four 9.2 inch (24cm), eight 6 inch (15.2cm) guns, ten 47mm and ten 37mm guns.

Interesting little fact: Imperator Nikolai I was fitted with a turret for her 12 inch guns, whilst Imperator Aleksandr II had them in a forward barbette.
