The Insane Terrain Challenge
This is just a crazy world-gen preset that shatters the terrain into thousands of little chunks; but makes a really interesting challenge in survival mode!
WARNING: Designed for 1.17 snapshots or higher; may not work on earlier versions!
To install:
- extract crazy.json to somewhere like your desktop.
- in game, go to create new world > more world options > import settings then select the file
- a warning will come up- click yes.
- remove the custom seed and type a new one or leave it blank if you want
Features
while playing; here is a few things I've discovered about it:
- the nether and end are normal (should be anyways, untested)
- the overworld has 3 distinct layers (as described below)
- even the simple beginning-challenge of punching a tree proves to be quite a challenge, and establishing a base on top of a mountain is usually your best bet to get wood before diving below the sea into the underworld for rarer stuff like diamonds etc.
- the sky: This is where all the land is at, mostly in the form of thousands of tiny blobs, but there are also mountains where the terrain groups together much more densely. these mountains are where you might want to consider establishing a base by climbing the waterfalls to the top, where trees grow.
- the sea: this is the water near the middle section of the world. its very deep, but its the only way to access the underworld. you need to find a way to establish a mine that goes through the sea and into the underworld below.
- the underworld: If your lucky, this will be mostly just the same as normal overworld caves. But if your unlucky, the underworld will be like the sky's evil twin brother: lots of floating chunks, a lake of lava below you, and only some places where the terrain is more sane. finding ores is one thing, but getting em is another... good luck!
