Level 47 : Master Pyro
Here it is finally. The Klingon B'rel class Bird of Prey hijacked by the Enterprise crew in "Search for Spock" and rechristened the HMS Bounty in "Voyage Home". Had to change from wool to mossy cobblestone because of the lava in the warp and cloak drive tubes. Jammed alot of circuitry in here between the shell and fully furnished interiors.

Includes:

Sliding doors (where possible) Replaced glowstone with glowstone torch block so that pressure plates work again.

Fully functioning landing gear and boarding ramp

Complete interior based off of blueprints (modified somewhat to fit in redstone circuits)

Floor lighting (somewhat dim) for proper ambiance (remember how dark the interior was in the movies)

Flashing running lights and phaser cannons

Hidden room as well as maintenance access tunnels (you need to figure out which switches open the doors)

Activatable drives (warp and impulse) and cloaking device

Whales to decorate your world (as well as 2 whales in tanks that you have to find) (hint: check the pics above)

Klingon font to give your signs that authentic Star Trek vibe



Next update will include All done.

Klingon font signs Ship with pIqaD (Klingon symbols) signs needs the Klingon version of the default.png file included in the extras file. The other 2 ship versions have Klingon with Latin symbols.

Landing mode Done, waiting on bugs from 1.8 to be cleared before release. Has several 1.8 features which will probably not work with 1.7 (especially the glass panes around the warp engine lava). Everything else will be updated when the official release hits. Everything should work in 1.8.

Finished (unless someone makes a suggestion or finds a bug). The ship with pIqaD signs needs the klingon default.png for full effect. If you don't want to mess with that then the other 2 ship versions have the Klingon with Latin letters.

Changed the boarding ramp switch set up from an AND switch to a xnor switch per ninjakiller's suggestion. Works alot better. Also debugged the landing gear.

Finished version. Electronics and interior all finished up. Next update will in clude landing mode version and Klingon font on the signs (will need Klingon font loaded to get full effect).

Couldn't get lava to not burn wool without changing the look of large areas. So rebuilt and replaced majority of wool with mossy stone and obsidian. Came up with a better blinking light set up. Used the rebuild to clean up door mechanisms, so they work smoother now.

Was working on the cloaking device room when I forgot lava and wool don't mix. Had about half of the interior done when half of that went up in flames (plus a bit of the exterior). Let this be a lesson to everyone, think before playing with lava (in real life or in game ;). Now, back to rebuilding.

Have a workable Klingon-English default.png. The lowercase letters are now Klingon letters and the shift + number are the Klingon numbers, while the uppercase letters are English and the numbers are Arabic (English). This will make your menu pages look unusual, so do not mess with this unless you are very used to what your menu looks like. I have included the default.png file (as well as a backup of the original Minecraft font in case someone accidently forgets to copy the default.png in their font file). To use go to %appdata%, roaming, .minecraft, bin, minecraft.jar(need winzip, 7zip or other compression program), then look in the font file for default.png. Make a copy and replace with my default.png. Put your copy back in when done. Also note that the signs will display whichever characters are on the default.png file that is currently loaded (in other words it will display Klingon for lowercase while my .png is installed and regular lowercase when minecraft's .png is installed). You can check out the .png with paint.net or any other higher end paint program (don't use Windows litle paint program, it's not really good enough to display this). Have fun.

making it out of mossy cobblestone really gives it that "dirty klingon" look, and i think thats exactly what you need here. i like it!

The only thing I could find that didn't work right was the glowstone with pressure plates combo. That issue had arose awhile back and I thought I fixed it. Apparently I forgot to upload the fixed version. Swapped with glowstone torch block and that actually gave it a more sinister vibe. So I'm happy with it. Everything else seemed to be in working order, you have to give the blinking lights a minute to load up and they'll work, if you find anything else wrong let me know!

Ok, bug fixes for 1.8 are working. You can still use everything in the download if you are using 1.7 except for the landing verion which has 1.8 features. So if you aren't playing with the 1.8 pre-release all I can say is why not? And make sure to update your MCEdit while your at it (copy has replaced export plus a bunch of new blocks have been added). Landing version has brick steps in the head, replaced glass blocks around warp and cloak device with panes (very neat glow effect) and did some other cleaning up, which will be added to the attack mode once the official update hits.

Will release landing mode and rerelease the rest once the red stone torch bug is fixed in 1.8. I've started using 1.8 features in the ship (such as brick stairs for toilets, glass panes replacing glass blocks, etc.). Should be all ready by Tuesday or Wednesday depending on bug fixes.

As ninjakiller suggested the xnor circuit works much better (similar to dual light switch on a stairs). Also noticed one of the landing legs wasn't retracting right. Got that working right as well. Reuploaded. Started working on the landing mode. Should be up in a day or two.

Maybe, another day or two on the landing version. Got the wings to the right angle but they still look weird. Going to start over on it. The phaser cannons will probably have to be completely redone (without circuitry fortunately. Can't fire the cannons and don't need running lights when your ships sitting on the ground ;)

This is a good build, i would make the entrance ramp a xnor gate, so that it can be used from ether side of the door and not have to be in a certain position first.

The bird of pray has 3 different designs: the small B'rel - class, the D-12 - class scouts, and the larger K'vort - class cruisers.

Added new default.png to give everyone the ability to change the font for their signs to include Klingon letters and numbers. Check update file 6 for details. Or you can post a comment if you have any problems. Now I can finish working on the interiors.

I put the default.png for the Klingon font over in the mods section so that you don't have to redownload this file to get it. I also included the true text file in case anyone wants to write letters to their parents in Klingonese.

Yeah, I like that page (got the details for the rear exterior from there) but can't get the thumbnails for page 3 and up to work. Found another page (http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/lcars/klingon-bird-of-prey.php) which I'm not sure is B'rel specific but the deck plans fit well inside my model. The SketchUp model I used wasn't very detailed (didn't have the atmospheric control winglets for one). I've got the bridge and neck areas done. Working on B-deck right now, then A & C, plus adding the winglets to the exterior. Thank you for looking out for me, I do appreciate it.

Checked a couple different pics and angles. Original star trek Bird of Preys have a shorter neck. The 24th Century Chuq'Beh class had a longer neck design. I'm doing old school versions of the Klingon, then the original Romulan Bird of Prey. You can stretch the neck out in MCEdit if you like the Next Gen version, it will be a bit off scale but will give you the look you like.

No, you aren't dumb. The powers that be haven't been very consistent in their creation of canon Star Trek info. From one movie to the next (and even several times in one movie) they changed the scale of the old style Bird's to fit the cinematic feel for individual scenes. Then they also haven't been completely clear on later incarnations. Next Gen versions had similar distortions. No one will officially state how many versions there are, but if I had to guess, I'd say there are probably between 7 and 10 Klingon versions alone.

This project will eventually become my McGlone group application. I'm planning on making it into an adventure/puzzle based off of Wrath of Kahn/Search for Spock. So hopefully I'll be working with them down the road. As for servers, I tried running one awhile back, but my computer had severe lag so I gave up on that. I mostly freebuild.
