Immediately after seeing the 'Preserving World Heritage Contest' I knew what I had to make. The Canadian Rocky Mountains sits on a well-earned seat at the table of UNESCO world heritage sites. Of all the parts of the Canadian Rockies, I settled on Lake Moraine as it is not only one of the most recognizable places in there it is also somewhere I have been and fell in love with. From the beautiful snowcapped mountain backdrop and the clear blue skies, down to the pebbled shores and tall evergreens hugging the lake's side this was definitely something I should make. I started by looking over many many heightmaps and topographic information about the lake until I found something that would work. I Imported a greyscale heightmap from Tangram Heightmapper into world painter. Then, I stylized the terrain adding stone and snow and sand and the clear waters of the lake. Then I added evergreen trees and exported it to Minecraft. I did this about twenty or so times before I arrived at a map I liked, adding mountains here, deleting them there until the whole world was perfect. Now I was ready, I launched chunky, got in a perfect position, and the next three hours were dedicated to rendering this masterpiece of a map. I took screenshots of the cliffs, waves, leaves and everything else. A quick Reddit post and then I was finally ready. My Beautiful map could now be posted on PMC. I give you 'Lake Moraine Banff National Park Alberta Canada'. I hope you enjoy it!
