Hallo PMCers out there.

Here I present you my 'Palais de colonnes' or in english: Palace of pillars .

I built this yesterday after seeing Schnogots latest twitter about his new SG-map.
After I saw it I decided to finally try out the style called: Schnogotish. ^^

In the end it turned out a bit different (the stuff un the top reminds me of Hydraxus' Dawn of Helios o.o) but still cool!

Tools I have used to build: WorldEdit (and later MCEdit to paste it into the terrain)

Render software: Cinema4D (Link to the images in HD: http://imgur.com/a/pvkO9)

Special thanks to:

1st: Schnogot for the inspiration
2nd: megabyte354 for the trees on the palace
3rd: a good friend of mine for helping me out when I was out of ideas :)

thanks you :)

I used Cinema4D R15 Studio (the $3000 version) to render it and I simply put a relfective material on the floor ;)

A lot of people are pointing out that this looks repetitive, since it is. A lot of world-edit was used in this, clearly, but the fact of the matter is, that's part of the design. The building does have a lot of similar sections, because it is following a pattern. The design, as well as the floorplan, almost forces a duplication method, unless CrankerMan decides he wants to make every pillar a different shape, or the arches vary in distance, and I guarantee that, if he did that, there would be people complaining about inconsistency. I actually find the thematic use of patterns, all centered around a single pillar type, quite ingenious. It cuts down on work and provides a classical style. Look at the Parthenon: multiple of the same pillar, repeated patters, and a thematic repetition. I would like to point out that the elevated roof where the transverse meets the main building is by far the apex of the build, and not just vertically. My ONLY complaint is that there's a tree blocking my view.
Well, that and the fact that this is uncannily resemblant of Hydraxus' Dawn of Helios.
