The Marauder is a Gunship designed to compete with the Broadsword (by Blade Industries) for the position of the official gunship for Cavalon's Ministry of Air. It is seen as and sometimes referred to as the hundred year predecessor to the Pegasus Class frigate. Both the Marauder and the Pegasus shared similar design philosophy. They were both designed to be fast attack flanking ships. The Marauder was designed for operations in extreme environment such as desert or arctic operations. It surpassed the Broadsword in speed, and also had a bow gun. The broadsword only had 2 broadsides. The Marauder also boasted a larger bomb bay. The Marauder however failed to serve it's purpose when it was soon turned down for the inferior Broadsword Class gunship. The Balloon envelope gave a lot of people the misconception that the Marauder was indeed slower than the Broadsword. This was entirely untrue. The Broadsword had a more aerodynamic look to it, Also the Marauder was built almost entirely from wood to make it withstand the harsh desert and arctic environments. But the ministry of air frowned on this and preferred superior metal armor to wood. This ship was retired extremely early and was sold to civilians and explorers. Also it was sold secretly to bandits and smugglers. The failure of this vessel was a significant blow to Kyuno Manufacturing. Blade soon became the preferred airship manufacturer for Cavalon's Ministry of Air. Now, over a hundred years later people have rediscovered the capabilities of this vessel and it is again being produced to fit the role of the Pegasus in harsh environments that the Pegasus cannot handle. The Marauder is finally getting the use and recognition it deserved a hundred years ago, and 3 years since it's former competitor, the Broadsword, was retired.
