Hello,
since the presentation of the city is done, the forthcoming submissions will concentrate on the suburban area, which is also strongly develpoed.
The first important building of the area I'd like to present is the monastery of san Pietro Fuori le Mura, located next to the Nuovo and san Matteo districts, not far from the monastery of san Sepolcro. It's a modest but massive romanesque structure which probably dates back to the early middle ages. The complex consists of the church and the convent's building, with a courtyard and the garden.
In past, it used to be occupied by benedictine monks, but in the XIIIth century it was given to the Franciscans, since the first order mentioned decided to move to bigger and newer abbey (which also will be presented).
Apart from prayers the Franciscans have two more tasks, assigned by the city's authorities: they take care of the travellers who cannot afford for an accomodation and take care of the cemetery.
The church was inspired by the basilica of San Piero a Grado, located in Pisa.
