Hello! ヾ(^∇^)
Since I finally have time to play minecraft, I'm trying to complete my unfinished projects. I started this one last summer, so it was long overdue ( ´-ω-` )
This build is from a game I loved when I was little, Dark Cloud, a Level 5 game for PS2. If you haven't played it I highly recommend it (you can buy a digital copy on the play station store). I'm playing it again now and it's still really enjoyable, despite being so old.
Village:
Norune Village is the first map you see when you start the game. It's actually empty at first and you'll have to find the parts and rebuild it yourself. I really loved this part, you have certain requests from the villagers for each building and must find the perfect layout so everyone is happy with the location, and even with this restriction there are multiple possibilities. This is the layout I came up with in my game, but if you look on the internet there are a lot more.
The reason I decided to make this map is because, while playing Dark Cloud again, I couldn't stop thinking about how I would make all the different houses in minecraft... so I started with the houses and ended up with the whole map xDD.
All the houses are complete with interiors. Making the interiors is my favourite part when I build a house (*≧∀≦*) I can't leave the houses empty, and since the original game lets you enter all the houses and move the camera to see all the details... I was thrilled (✯◡✯).
Dungeon:
I had planned to build only the village, but while I was making the entrance to the dungeon I couldn't resist... so I made one dungeon floor (since in the original game the dungeons ar generated randomly, I made up the layout with the usual parts that you can find in the game). The dungeon door looks like it's just decoration, but it opens when the player is near. Inside there are multiple chests with typical objects from Dark Cloud, like a sword, bread, a bottle of water and a functional dungeon map. There are some mob spawners inside, so be careful!
I want to build all the maps from the game eventually, but it will take a long time... so I'm posting this first.
The skins I used for the screenshots are made by DiegoxDios

Fixed the map inside the dungeon chest, now it's finally functional and marks where you are! (or it should, let me know if it doesn't work)

I understand sticking to a reasonable scale while maintaining the high level of detail, double walls, and all is a huge puzzle.
Oh nice map render with all the names, it looks 'professional'
For the map I tried to simulate the style used in the game, but couldn't find the correct font... (つ﹏⊂) (I'm a perfectionist xD)
That's sounds like a needle inside a hay bale to find. Do it the other way around with some cut-paste & Photoshop magic. Means you could try to grab the hovering thing from the reference picture and paste it into your own map render.
