History
Constructed between 1914 and 1919 by financier Otto Herman Kahn, OHEKA castle is the second largest private home in the United States, and is a prime example of the wealth and opulence many Americans enjoyed during the Gilded Age. The house is located in Huntington, New York on Long Island and is constructed in a Chateauesque style that was popular for mansions at the time. Today it exists as a hotel, but this build takes it back to it's days as one of the largest private homes in the world.
The Build
This build has been worked on on and off for a couple of months, total days worked on was probably around a week and a half. The build has been a lot of fun to finish, and is one of my largest single-structure builds to date. The exterior is pretty faithful to the original home, while the landscaping and interiors are my own design (sorry Olmsted Brothers). It is set in a gorgeous New York summer day, with the courtyards all set up for a party where the who's who of Long Island and New York City will meet up and break bread.
The interior still has a ways to go, hence why their is no download. I intend for this mansion to be included in my next project, where I will be building a fictional county inspired by the coastal towns of the North Eastern US. Hopefully I will have completed the inside sometime in the next few months, and will provide a download link at that time.
Thanks for checking out this build, please subscribe if you want to see more like it!
