One more time, to change a bit from trains and while I wait to publish my traditional olive oil mill, I present to you a traditonal familly house from arround the 60's to the 80's from the Douro valley and Trás-os-Montes region.

The houses in the Trás-os-Montes tend to be alongated multiple story houses to cope with the terrain's elevation changes. The main build material is granite which can be foud close to the surface and the thick walls are whitewashed to deal with the summer eat. The usual family home houses 4 generations of the family, 2 in each floor, having each level it's own kitchen and dinning room, so it's almost two separate houses on top of eachother. The lower level is reserved to storage, wine making and animals. Such an house would cost 3 000 'paus' and most times it is possible to see the remains of the old smaller house next to it.
