Datapack Overview

The datapack included in the world download makes a few tweaks to the power and precision of bows.
Each level of power a bow has now increases the velocity of arrows as they're shot, leading to an increased range to go along with their increased damage. At long ranges, this makes aiming incredibly difficult, causing arrows to be spread over a wide range from the same starting point. This is why I added the second part of the datapack - increased bow precision. Crouching while aiming a bow will now increase the precision of the shot over time, with maximum precision removing all randomness from the initial velocity of the arrow.

Control Panel Overview

The control panel has a handful of features to make testing the datapack easier.

Aim Angle

When a player stands on one of the pressure plates at the firing line, they are rotated to face straight ahead, tilted to match the angle shown on the currently selected sign.

Target Distance

Changes how far the target is from the firing line. At 50m, there are 5 smaller targets to make it easier to compare precision at a close range. All other ranges have one large target with redstone lamps around the center.

Track Arrow Distance

This control toggles an action bar display showing the current distance of the most recently fired arrow.

Track Arrows with Spyglass

When turned on, looking through a spyglass will rotate the player to face the most recently fired arrow. This will track an arrow in flight and is useful for telling when a far away arrow has stopped moving.

Mark Arrows

When turned on, arrows will be marked by a glowing target when they land.

Spectate Arrows

When turned on, the player will be forced into spectator mode and follow their arrow through the air when it's fired. The player can return to spawn and switch back to creative mode by crouching through the ground.

Kill Arrows

In this map, arrows don't despawn naturally, so you'll need to press this button to clear any arrows or markers on the range.

Go To Arrow

Pressing this will switch the player to spectator mode and teleport them to the latest arrow fired. The player can return to spawn and switch back to creative mode by crouching through the ground.

Supply Chest

This barrel contains all different levels of power bow, a few stacks of arrows, and a spyglass. Pressing the button below the barrel will reset its contents.
