This is my speculative 1:1 scale reconstruction of the palace of antiochos and lausus as it may have appeared in 429a.d. before it was seriously damaged by a fire in 475.The palace was located next to the hippodrome between it and the forum of Constantine with the palace of lausus sigma courtyard opening up to the stadium and a bath house being located along that side as well.
This palace is one of the only known byzantine aristocratic houses to have ever been discovered in Constantinople with the first remains of the palace being discovered in 1939.This palace complex was also home to one of the largest and most famous private collections of statues in Constantinople even containing the Pheidias statue of Zeus from Olympia before the collection was destroyed in 475.I decided to build it before its repair and conversion into the Church of St. Euphemia to show the impressive statue collection that it originality held and due to alot of conflicting information in the later version.

some history

the palace complex and its two seperate palaces were built by eunuch and an imperial chamberlains lausus and antiochos in the court of Theodocious II, who both built lavish palaces partially inspired by the great palace next to the hippodrome.
lasus used his position and influence to accumulate a large collection of statues from across the empire including the olympian statue of zeus Aphrodite of Cnidus,Hera of Samos,Athena of Lindos and various animal statues on the other side of the building all sorted in alphabetical order before he donated a portion of his great wealth to the poor.
Antiochos on the other hand who was Grand Chamberlain until he lost imperial favor and his property was confiscated had a complicated relationship with the imperial court and was made a regular priest and his palace was turned into the Church of St. Euphemia sometime around the areas reconstruction following the fire of 475 that devastated the area.
the palace was discovered in excavations lasting from 1939 to 1952 in which the palace of antiochus securely identified through inscriptions while the palace of lausus still has some question due to confusion on the location of the Cistern of Philoxenus it was recorded next to

Please enjoy and hope it inspires some more roman builds, you can use it for anything you want just give me credit for building it
