Hope you all getting well in these times.
I want to present you a project begun in early 2020 in ultra hardcore survival mode, online (in order to not lose the map at every death)
It is a first attempt for me, to build in an antic mesopotamian style, in order to test new techniques, combinaisons of blocks and ideas for further projects.
This project was called Phyros, but now it is growing up ...
As I have always been interested in old famous cities such as Uruk, I have started to build a reproduction of what babylon could have been. It is not to scale as I am almost alone on the project but all the famous districts, temples will be rebuilt. Below, there is the map of the city I will follow for my project

What else should I say? Maybe a little ship would be a nice addition.
Just one question; why hardcore? I don't like hardcore because I don't build in hardcore. Why should I build something in a world that is lost when I die...
I may put a donwload once the temple finished (it remains the roof to build), and a few more houses in the main area of the city.
Yes boats is good suggestion, but I need firstly to study what kind of boats were used in that time. More over, the structure of the port could be changed.
This city has been started on an online survival hardocre server. The "harcore" term here meaning that there is no regeneration of life except with potions, and the mobs are a bit stronger.
It is not the singleplayer mode where, as you said the world disappears at the player's death.
Well I cannot tell you much about the ships/boats of that time age. I've got much knowlegde about the ancient history but more for the (post) classic so I cannot help you there :(
But this time period is special - you will not find many building here on PMC that are mesopotamian - that is why I like your project even more.
