I'm an animator and I make videos for Youtube. I've got the next four animations fully storyboarded and for the third video I figured: I'm going to need a big city as a set. Instead of downloading a city, or only building the particular sets, I decided to do something different and that's to build an entire city. *The map will be downloadable as soon as it’s finished.



I started designing the city in begin July. I wanted it to be hystoricaly accurate, so I had to do tons of research, but gladly I got a bit of help by an actual historyteacher. He also helped me planning the city's lay-out, making its productivity as good as possible. Planning the city and it's environment took a ridiculous amount of time, but I'm very happy with the result. I had to keep in mind that I'll be recording the whole progress, which made this even harder. After all of this I had to start with forming the basic environment. Which was the easiest and quickest thing I had to do (less than a day of work). Senksi has two main walls to protect itself against raiders and army's coming from the Northern Farmlands and the Southern Jungle. Senksi lays in the shadow of gigantic mountains, peaking far above the clouds, its shadow stretching even further than the river in the east. It's almost impossible to siege Senksi due to it's tactical location between the mountains and the river. An army would take months to cross the overgrown jungle, making the northern farmlands the only place to set camp, but removing a dam further up the river would flood the north in hours.



This project is huge, that's why I decided to contact a buildteam, but they had some trouble and the entire team fell apart. So now I'm the only builder working on the city. It would take me more than 8 months to finish this project and that's just way to much. That's why I'm looking for experienced and dedicated builders to help me out. We decided to build a few small buildings to decide:"In what style are we going to build?". There were eventually 7 varying buildings made.



I've only done a few measurements and we added a patterned buildingground to make measuring easier. The stoneslabs are there to point out where the main roads are going to be. The city is made out of three main cylinders. The higher the cylinder, the richer and bigger everything is.
