Tic Tac Toe game boards have been big projects of mine over the past years, and I have built 2 full scale in survival previously, with minor improvements from one to the next. This is the most updated version I have created, one of the survival versions is similar to this latest one, this version has just been cleaned up a bit.
Technically this can be built in survival as a fun addition to a server, but expect a big time commitment. This world doesn't use command blocks, so you're free to check out how I put everything together. There is also a tutorial area if you want to learn more about how I put the game together.

*Last tested on Minecraft 1.12

The Tic Tac Toe game board includes:
  • Win detection - If you get 3 in a row, the "WIN!" sign lights up.
  • Anti-Cheat (to an extent) - You cannot activate a panel on the board that has already been taken by the other player, although it is still possible to cheat by pressing multiple buttons from your side during your turn, as there is no "turn-taking" system (might do it one day, but would require a bit more work).
  • Full reset system - Either player can press just one button and the whole board (win detection system and all) will reset.
  • Spectating positions, in case you have extra players and some want to watch from elsewhere.
  • Tutorial section - I've created a little walkway that shows off some of the basic redstone systems used in the game, in case anyone is interested in how I got a particular part to work.
  • There are also buttons around the place which can be used to teleport you around a bit quicker.
  • I've also added little exits in the lobby area (save you having to break your way out), in case you want to have a look at all the redstone wiring. Some of it is a mess, but feel free to go ahead and do that :)
*Resource pack used in screenshots is a combination of Faithful and Code Craft - Typically used by Mumbo Jumbo (YouTube).

Please do give me feedback (constructive or otherwise!), I'm always looking for ways to improve this design.
Thank you!
