I made a copy and went into creative and noticed that when you go through the portal you are put high in the air with no islands next to you. I placed a portal on the origin and this still happened. Is there a particular spot to place the portal to counter this?

I have never played skyblock before and was wondering how to get ores i have about an hour into the map so far and can't find any. I have only bridged to two islands, but i was just wondering.
