I've been having a fantastic time trying out the new materials and block physics from the 1.16 Nether Update! I decided to put the Blackstone blocks and new wall/glass pane connection feature to the test with a new house design.

This house is a lot of different things at the same time. It's traditional and it's modern. It has influence of American Arts & Crafts Movement, Victorian Queen Anne, Modernism and Postmodernism, and German folk styles. The white stucco (concrete) walls against the dark wood trim and glass-walls provides a dramatic contrast and warm harmony at the same time. The room layout is both divided and open in choice areas.

My two main experiments, both of which I consider a success, were to create the appearance of a structurally-supported glass wall (sort of a curtain wall) using wall blocks and panes, and to use the wall blocks against regular blocks to create a more subtly-textured solid wall. I am very satisfied with how it turned out.

Slate Gables Manor has a full main floor of living spaces, three basement utility rooms, two upstairs sitting rooms, 10 bedrooms, and 6 bathrooms. I mostly left the house unfurnished; I only did the kitchen because I felt like it could be an awkward space to configure and I wanted to offer my suggestion about how to arrange it. Overall though, I'm not an interior decorator and I believe I can best present a house that is left largely undecorated inside.

Feel free to use this build for any of your projects, just make sure you credit me! If copying/pasting it, make sure you include the entire basement!

Fun fact, my original model of this house had an entire extra floor, underneath the roof, with exterior walls entirely of blackstone. At first I thought it would lend a good balance to the house, but after coming back to it, I felt it to be too overpowering. Not to mention that the house had a whopping 14 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. Who knew that a building could be improved by just yoinking out an entire floor!
