Welcome to SonicDRJ's 1.17.1 Minecraft TNT Wars! TNT Wars is a classic minigame where two teams battle it out by building cannons to shoot TNT across a large gap at each other!

This map is intended to bring it to the modern Minecraft era through cool islands featuring blocks from recent updates, and utilizing some newer items that weren't available before.

This map is also done with no TNT Wars specific datapacks, everything in the background is handled through command blocks, structure blocks, and you pushing buttons to activate them. As such, please don't mess with them too much, since you might accidentally break something! BUT, feel free to explore the behind the scenes commands if you are curious as to how it all works, and if you ever want to design your own island or map, you can go right ahead!

Version 1.0 comes with:

5 Custom built islands for you to play on:
  Basic
  Desert
  Old Nether
  New Nether
  Deep Dark

Automatic Island reset to a reasonable extent:
This map will automatically reset the playing area before a match starts up. However, it currently only clears the islands, which are 24x48x48   (Length x Width x Height), as well as 48x48x48 areas around the islands, and the same area starting 48 blocks above the island, coming to a   total area of approximately 120x144x96 being reset each round centered on the islands. This does mean that if you build too high, or build out   to the side too far, you may go outside the reset range, and will have to manually clear those blocks out in between rounds.

3 Selectable Difficulties:
Each island comes with 3 different versions, coinciding with Easy, Difficult, and Hard. Press the buttons inside the difficulty selection room to   learn more about what these do and how they'll affect you game

Anti-Nether Defense System:
In the past, I have had issues with private TNT Wars maps where people would get obsidian and build a Nether Portal to cheat and win the   game. The Anti-Nether Defense System makes it so that no players can get to the Nether and cheat.

2V2 Fun:
Currently, this map is only designed to support 2v2 teams, with the option for others to be spectators of the match. There is also a system in   place to allow for undersized teams to play, so you can have 1v2 or 1v1 matches as well, but these aren't yet test confirmed, but should be   operational.

Update: Hello all, this is SonicDRJ from later on. I took a very long hiatus from working on this map, over 4 months according to Planet Minecraft. It became difficult to work on this map once 1.18 came out due to some Fabric shenanigans (I use Fabric for my personal Minecraft stuff to get things like More Overlays and MiniHUD, but this meant I needed the 1.18 stuff after the update). However, I'm using a new system now and was able to get back to work on this. The above "2v2 Fun" is now incorrect. This map now supports teams of ANY size, and even uneven teams with no issues. HOWEVER, this does mean that trying to play this single player will not work, and the islands do NOT get larger the more people there are, so keep that in mind.

This map is currently labelled at 20% complete. However, I do not know how many more islands I plan to add to this, and as such, have no set "complete" status for this map. This map is designed to be playable when a new version/update releases, which means that while it isn't "complete" currently, it IS playable. This first version has undergone extensive solo testing to ensure that things are operational, but as a single person, I can't guarantee that everything is working as intended for multiple people. Should there be an issue, feel free to post a comment regarding any bugs and I'll be sure to get them fixed up. A description of the issue, what you did to cause it, and images if relevant, would also be extremely helpful.

Update 2: I have done a fair bit of testing with some great people, Nexarra and GilbyTV, who helped me make sure that the map was not only working, but that it ran smoothly without bugs. You can check them both out at www.twitch.tv/nexarra and www.twitch.tv/gilbytv_ respectively. I also want to give a shoutout to vdvman1 in the Minecraft Commands Discord server, for giving me a new command which is now the reason that any and all team sizes (greater than 0 of course) is now supported! I couldn't have done it without their valuable input, so make sure to go check them out at www.twitch.tv/vdvman1. Also, shout out to TBNRFrags AKA Preston for the TNT Wars videos he did back in the day! They were a huge inspiration and I'll link his YouTube channel here: www.youtube.com/c/PrestonPlayz so you can go check him out

Without further ado, I hope that you enjoy my map! Here are some things you can look forward to in future major updates!

Cameos:
I have gathered tons of player heads of popular Minecraft Streamers and YouTubers, as well as some smaller Streamers and YouTubers, and   even some heads of my friends. I have plans to start including them into islands in future updates as cool little cameos, so make sure to keep   an eye out for them in the near future!

More Islands:
More Islands are planned to be added in the future following all sorts of different themes! Be sure to keep an eye out too! Future version may have maps in theme that aren't yet playable but are WIPs, so you might be able to get sneak peaks of some before they are officially released

Please note: You MUST have command blocks allowed in order to play this map. Make sure to double check that after downloading this map.

You MAY be required to forceload chunks. The map should automatically forceload the game area chunks when you push the button to pull up the Creator Rules, but if things do NOT work in the main hub area, then you may be required to also forceload those chunks with the command blocks as well.

This map comes included with all structure files required for the islands as well as other ones used for Dev work. Please do NOT modify these in any way if you are unfamiliar with how structure blocks work!

This map used Vanilla Tweaks datapacks in it, for the development of the islands, such as for obtaining certain player heads, and for the eventual decoration of islands using armor stands. Make sure to check out the Vanilla Tweaks website at https://vanillatweaks.net/ to get more datapacks to customize you Minecraft experience. Please go support them! They're really awesome people and have some really cool texture and datapacks!
The datapacks are NOT included with this world download, for legal reasons.

DISCLAIMER: This map is made for Java Edition only, and I have no intention of porting it over to Bedrock Edition at any point in time. Sorry for the inconvenience.

1 Update Logs

Version 1.2 : by SonicDRJ 04/28/2022 12:23:13 amApr 28th, 2022

Hey everyone! This update log is to let you know that I have FINALLY gotten around to working on my map! I'm sorry it took so long! This update is only a minor bug fix regarding first time downloads, where the map would load in and you would be floating about in creative. Apologies for that! I never realized then when you download the world, it would carry over my player data to your player, so it meant that wherever I last logged off was where you would be, oops!

Version 1.2 (I know I know I skipped over Version 1.1, silly me) has fixed that small issue! Again, apologies for it taking so long to get here! If you want to play Version 1.0, without the fix, the link is right here: www.mediafire.com/file/c025peynjztx48q/SonicDRJ_1_17_1_TNT_Wars_Ver_1.zip/file

Truthfully though, there is no real content difference between the two versions, so regardless of which you download the experience will still be the same. While I can't promise many huge changes soon, feel free to keep an eye out for any updates I may do in the future! I really want to add more cool things to this map, before making a whole new experience for a newer Minecraft version

Hello Everyone!

It's me again! I figured that I'd make a small announcement regarding version history.

I personally feel that maintaining a proper version history is very nice to do, and allowing people to see the progression of the map as well as be able to see how it has evolved and changed over time is something I personally think is quite interesting.

As such, I do intend to keep this page updated with current change logs and have the official download be the newest version of the map at any given time, BUT I'll make sure to keep the links to previous downloads as well so you can still enjoy older versions of the map, and have a sort of time log of it's evolution!

That's all for now, besides one last mention that I'll try and release a version 1.1 that hopefully has the spawn in issue solved. It mostly seems to be a single-player player data thing, which I don't know if I can solve. Again, I'll look into it, but for now, please refer to my previous comment for how to get around this oopsie on my part!

Hope you all have a blast! ;)

Hello everyone enjoying version 1!

I am aware of a spawning in issue with version 1, I plan to take care of that sometime shortly. For now, head over to X:0 Z:0 and you should see a black box thing. Just hop in there and you can get the proper intro experience. Sorry about that, hopefully I'll have it fixed shortly! (Please note that by "shortly" I mean it in a relative sense. I am a college student and don't always have time to make many changes to the map, and I'm unsure of how to exactly fix this specific problem, since it seems to be player data based.
