Starbase 97 is a concept design based upon Starbase 79 as seen in Star Trek III and inspired by the Starbase 49 by milkfly available here on Planetminecraft. 

The base is nearly 250 blocks high and spans over 34 decks not counting the Deuterium Tanks at the bottom.

The thing is absolutely huge. 

Stay tuned for info on the sever it will be hosted on and when it will be  available for download.

The thing is so large that I cannot take a true to scale screen cap of it.  The rendering distant, even set to extreme via the OptiFine Mod, isn't enough. 

I used OcD texture pack for many of the caps.

The base will be hosted exclusively on a server.  That info will come soon I hope.

Each deck is fully laid out, (Its not hollow on the inside) it has corridors, rooms, and much more.  As it continues to be developed, more and more internal detail will be added.  Right now there is only a few things from a computer core, warp reactor, escape pod shells, tubo lifts, transporters, rec area's, promenade area, some shuttle lifts, and the primary phaser array.

I still have lots to add as I feel up to it and get the time.

I want to thank  blibbob and  14jroyer for their on going help. 

The base will feature many shuttles from blibbob and others.

Project is now available on the Persianworldserver.  Please follow the instructions in the previous update or in the comment section in order to gain access to the server.

The server features a few massive city builds along with a few other star trek ships including the Excelsior by Blibbob.  (Awesome build)

I have revamped the lower level of the sub hanger / cargo area a bit in order to facilitate a much cleaner approach to the design over all.

I have also added the structural integrity field, shield generator, and life support sub system.  I have also finished up the battery rooms, medical complex, garden, warp core, and computer core.

I have also worked on the exterior hull detail a tad.

with any luck this version of the build will be available soon on a server.

No texture pack needed.
The texture pack HaunSolo 16x would work if you wanted one
Yes I made this all by myself.  (McEdit, TooManyItems, SPC, Mineral Detector, and OptiFine)

Took about a month.

The ships in it, the shuttle craft, are from BliBobb.

At least there are people keeping an eye for you, but I'd be flattered.
Don't get mad or whatever, if I were you, keep it civil, and send tips on how to get about to the level of skill you have! (This is for both Fog and Atro, as you've both got a helluva talent and presence!)

I lay the concept out in my mind first by trying to be as logical about how things should look as I can.  Then I create the outer edge of the largest deck and then lay it out. From there I just work from largest to smallest trying to keep things aligned between decks.

Not really.  Its a good thing as it promotes the build and the Persian World Server and Blibbobs shuttles.  :D

The base is so big that it needs to be on a server so you an explore it with others.

Persian is the official server of Starbase 97.

The base on the trek server is there so I can modify it (with help) to use sand, jack'o'lanterns, and black wool.  (The Trek Texture pack.)

Since it will be gutted by the process and will take a very long time to do, I thought it would be best to keep the refit low profile on the Trek server.  (The process is quite ugly to witness and would just confuse people.)

Ok all cool, I've never been a fan of using a texture pack to make things look good, though i'm not against it either, but it'd be good to keep doing builds using default anyway, it just means it fits well next to buildings and what not. Just in case you were planning on using minetrek's texturepack from now on.

I plan to make a non texture pack version of the NX 74001 and a textured one. That is why the NX is now on the Minetrek server as well. :D

I have, apart from the pathways in the garden area, it looks good.  The texture pack, the 64x64 version is still a work in progress.  I build assuming that people won't use texture packs.  (most run into memory crash issues when they do.)

But I have and it does look good.  Granted I didn't use the sand block to build the walls with.  (God I wish they'd change that texture to a second block.)

just as a follow up to the information in the update, we'l be lifting the white list in mid June, the application to the email is just for anybody who wants to get on to see the base early, as we have it up currently but the server is still being tested for any problems, i mean yesterday i found the server griefing itself due to a faulty plugin, which we got fixed.


If your applying remember to include pictures of your best work, preferably with your character in them. Thanks for being patient with us until June.

Whats funny is when I get emails from people all sorts of pissed off at me for stealing "their work" or "their friends" work.  And they actually argue with me over it.  *face palm*

Hey credit TROLLS,  the simple solution to all piracy issues is to make your own versions.  Its not that hard.  It just takes time and a small amount of skill.  Hell you might even have fun doing it and might even make something superior to those project that you wish to emulate.

But opting to employ the TROLL method of stealing credit for someone else's creation is more often than not, the  case these days. :(

I've tried it, it sort of fits but the scale is not quite correct.

I am sure that with some modifications, it would but you'd have to increase the size of the primary saucer hanger by about 2x to get it to look good.  (In order to get a true 1:1 scale of the actual SB, we'd need unlimited height restriction.  And to be honest, this build, with just one ship, chokes MCedit and lags my Core I5 2500 system.  I couldn't even imagine this thing being 2x its current size.  That'd be one big ass build.

I'll take a screen cap the build with Mozzie's Enterprise to show people.

With any luck the base will soon be on a server.  Trust me when I say you'll want to use Ellians Mineral Detector Mod - for exploring this build.  His mod has a great top down mapping feature that will aid you in navigating the interior of the build.  And it is a huge build.  35 total decks, not counting the lower gas pods.

You should dock the intrepid and a nova to it. I think Airadan should put it into Star Block: Sky Limit and use it as the launch point for the U.S.S. Relief (intrepid)
