First make a hole like this and add a half slab to the bottom.

Add soul sand to keep it from moving.

Add a track

place cart with chest

fall in the hole then crouch to get rid of rail.

it should look like this now.

fill hole then done with the first chest.

repeat the steps for more next to it.

do as many as you like.

one idea for maximum storage.

read picture captions for instructions. I know it uses lots of iron but its good when limited on space such as in multi-player. You could also hybrid and have double chests stacked on top and these in between for maximum storage.
