This is the Republic of Testifiland. It's listed as 50% done because it will never be done. It will continue expanding and sprawling out for a very long time. I've already done about a year or two of work on it. There are 6 cities, 3 of which are in progress. The capital is Esperance, the city with all the skyscrapers and trees. Its sister city and trade partner is Testifitown, a tourist hub. Fuga is currently in progress. Fuga, meaning "flight" in Latin, is a small city built floating above the ground with an emphasis on architectural aesthetics, near Esperance. Near Fuga is the city of Newark, which is a center of the arts and science for Testifiland. Syracuse is also in progress, about a kilometer away from Esperance on the 1 highway in the Farmland. This city will emphasize large buildings and systematic organization. A 3 and a half kilometer voyage away from Syracuse is Easthampton, a small city with a similar structure to Esperance.

I created the first two cities by building on pre-existing villages with lights, new buildings and landscaping. The reason the map looks a little rough around the edges is because during the building process I focused on functionality, and so I gave each building a name and an interior, and in Syracuse, New Brighton in Esperance, and Easthampton I started giving street names and addresses.

I built the entire country by hand. Completely. Block by block. Except the original buildings in the villages, of course. But besides that, I planted every tree, built every skyscraper, paved every road.

time sure flies when you're having fun! this map isn't anything to write home about from an outside perspective, but over the past decade(!) it's become something like a home to me. i've lived a pretty turbulent life up until this point, showing up to you name it -- death and disaster in the family, moving six times (around the world twice!), the coming and going of friends and more and whatever in between -- with a stupid little grin on my face because it didn't matter when i didn't have a home of my own anymore; i knew i could still escape to this fantasy universe i had so lovingly crafted, replete with story and spunk and personality, a kind of retooling of the world i had come to know through the wide eyes of a kid. the computer i was originally building it on even crapped out on me! completely bricked! and the planet minecraft download was the only backup i had. i fell out of love with this game as it morphed into strange, unfamiliar forms and the rest of the world caught on to the magic it exudes. something in this map sends me back to what was a simpler time for me, a time when my room was the safest place on the planet and my imagination ran rampant, leaving its little footprints on every little fold in the fabric of my mind for years to come. this world is my eden, my zen garden. i intend to tend it for as long as i can.
