UPDATE: Another PMC user, Originalmadman, has kindly made additions to my original build not only to improve on various details but also so it is now compatible with the 1.5 default texture pack. You can download his updated version here. Alternatively, check out his server damnationeu where you can see this build and many more.

World Download now available! (please read additional notes for further download details)

Adamantis - an enormous fantasy city built upon high cliffs from which natural springs and rivers flow, carried to the city by a network of aqueducts. The city's smaller buildings are built in tiers above the cliffs connected by walkways and bridges leading to a large, open temple complex built into the highest cliffs which overlooks the city.

The city was designed and built entirely by myself and took roughly 3 months.

This is the first in a series of builds I hope to post on my page over the coming weeks and months.

Enjoy :)

Many thanks to _Toby_ for filming the cinematic and also to Mithrintia, the server I built this on, for their continued support and encouragement.

Finally thanks to Invis for making the beautiful banner.

Additional Notes

For the world download please use the Mithrintia texturepack:
http://www.mediafire.com/?z7bmha7q2daeaj2

Also you will need to use a mod which prevents ice melting (many ice blocks were used in proximity to jack-o-lanterns) such as this one:
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1571830-145-fire-and-ice-mod-no-fire-spread-no-melting-ice/

I also have a server and just like Dhark0311 said, may I use this as my spawn because I love this map that you have created and it goes so well with the monkey farms custom johns texture pack. I would also give credit and acknowledge your vision of the map. Not only that to show the all the people that know my server what you have created and built. Thanks!:)

Hey!
I was wonduring if I could use your "The City of Adamantis" as a spawn for my server? I would give 100% credit to you! Usually I build my own spawns but I just reset my map and dont have the time like i use to. I dont want a small thrown together spawn and absolutely loved this!! I was looking through spawns that were up for download on here but really found nothin I liked and came across this which I love! I would really like to use it! Looking forward to speaking with you! Have a happy new years :)!

Just a suggestion: if you replaced the ice with another material like glass or quartz, the melting would be less problematic. It might not look as nice, but it would eliminate the need for a mod.

I found a flaw in the map. Some of the ice blocks melt at the top of one of the domes. This takes about 10-15 minutes to rid of all the water that is spilling over the landscape. There is actually so many ice block flaws that I've had to fix water problems all over the entire map.

I am well aware of this; hence why I wrote in my post that you should download a mod to prevent ice melting. Please read the post fully before complaining.

I think the only problem I had with this map is the ice melting all over the place, due to all of the light sources everywhere. Other than that, this is a fantastic map, and I greatly enjoyed wandering around on the top, shooting arrows at the mobs I'd spawned down below.

It is no doubt, the most amazing build I could have come across.
But, I WAS disappointed when I downloaded the world.
You called it a city, which made me expect a little town inside the circle of walls, but it ended up just being a bunch of random buildings that were in fact, inhabitable. It was a small space to work with inside a tower. There were no mines to work with at the least, and the space was far too large to work with. Walking a long distance in order to reach a small farm was indeed very unpleasant.

I ended up just liking how it looked and not really liking the details to the inside.
For me, the looks aren't important, it's how you can USE the environment around you that's important.

Thanks for your comment.Adamantis would never be a practical city - it lacks infastructure, basic housing and an enormous amount of other things required by a conventional city. I am aware of this, but Adamantis was not built to be function - it was built *entirely* from an aesthetic perspective.
If, as you say, looks aren't important to you - I suggest you stop looking at minecraft creative builds. The vast, vast majority of minecraft builds are built in the same way as this one, prioritizing aesthetics over practicality, and there's a perfectly logical reason behind that.If I built a city in minecraft, it is never going to be inhabited, its a virtual city. However it will be viewed and looked at by others - in that way it's more similar to a piece of art than anything else.
I am particularly sorry you had to walk a long distance to reach your farm, the Gods actually fly to their farms so it probably isn't a problem.

I'm not sure if you'll answer this but what do you use to make the land around the build? I'm going all out on my next project and I just really want the land around it to be perfectly formed for the build.

Hey, the surrounding terrain was made using voxelsniper. If you're not sure on how to use it just do a bit of research, tons of great tutorials freely available.
Good luck with your project.
