PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The Evergate Peninsula consists of the merchant town of Grasspost and the city of Evergate. Grasspost serves as the settlement closest to the spawn point of the map in the southern region of the map. The city of Evergate consists of shops, vendors, markets, housing, quarries, farmland, windmills, and most importantly, the Evergate Portal.
This project was built for the Journey Through Time contest here on PMC. It was a fun (but tedious at times…) experience -- and definitely a new one. As a guy who usually sticks to realistic, modern builds, making an entire medieval-themed fantasy world was quite new and “out of my comfort zone!”
I feel like it was a nice change, though. :)

LORE:
Initially founded as a mining village, the city of Evergate lies in the middle of the Evergate Peninsula. The peninsula itself is home to rolling, fertile hills capable of sustaining large wheat fields, a formidable swampland dotted with overgrown ruins, and a rich mountainous and rocky region.
However, following a sudden earthquake that rocked the region, mysterious substances began oozing from the ground. An ethereal yellow liquid filled a rift created by the earthquake, followed by pink and blue liquids that began to pour out of the cliff sides within the Evergate Mountains.
Without warning, a large portal broke out of the ground and opened, allowing items from the past and present to pour out. Technology and organisms unknown to the people of Evergate were strewn about the area. The portal has been inactive ever since.
The overgrown portal and cliff sides, dotted with trees infused with the portal’s magical aura, have attracted merchants, tourists, and residents alike. What started out as a small mining town has grown into a city filled with blacksmiths, armorsmiths, merchants, stonemasons, artisans, aristocrats, farmers, miners, and more. The fertile fields have allowed a booming agricultural economy, and the Evergate Mountains provide an endless stream of valuable minerals and rock.
However, villagers have recently begun to notice strange happenings in the area surrounding the portal. As a magical aura begins to surround the portal, will you be the one to discover what the portal grants the people of Evergate next?
PROCESS:
This project was made entirely by me, Anakin (IXAnakinXI)! It was built for the Solo Edition of Planet Minecraft’s “A Journey Through Time” build contest, which ran from June 8th to July 23rd, 2018. The project was built over the course of this period, in which I planned and created the entire map. This included creating the landscape with WorldPainter, creating the trees that would dot the peninsula, making basic housing structures to establish a building style for the city, and putting everything together. It was definitely a crunch for time at the end. xD

IN-DEPTH PROCESS
New projects always start with the same process - creating assets in a “prep” world (in this case, making the trees, basic structures, and wall segments) which would later be used when putting everything together.
I then made a custom WorldPainter map featuring the trees I had previously created … basic process here.
From there, I began assembling the city. The city itself took the longest time, most likely due to the fact that (ugh) summer courses started and I had to deal with those first. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
From there (and with a week left until July 23rd…) I built the portal, quarry, the merchant town (Grasspost), and added multitudes of other structures to Evergate.
i credit my twice playlist for getting me through that lmao
Hope you all enjoy exploring this map. It was a fun experience. :)
To other contest participants, best of luck!
