Hello,
the fortified village of Cragnamola is located south-west to the city, not far from the monastery, in an area of great forests. The village and surrounding lands belong to opulent barons, descendants of crusaders, who are also vassals of the city-state (i.e. of the signoria, not the doge).
The village consists of two principal streets with a few houses, mostly inhabited by local peasants or modest merchants.The principal square is surrounded by more relevant buildings, such as a romaneqsue church (quite big, but rather of simple shape) and a small monastic convent. Next to the temple You can observe the baron's residence, made of fairly solid stone bricks, with a massive civic lighthouse.
The village is surrounded by well preserved walls and even if it doesn't have tha rank of a town, it's considered one of the important locations in the state.
The idea itself derived from fortified villages of Italy, such as Monteriggioni, whereas the civic tower resembles somehow the one at Pistoia.
