This is my latest Minecraft timesink (previous attempts are not worth mentioning). In the past I had made some fairly ugly towns and villages on flatmaps and the like in Creative, so I thought it would be cool to start actually working with the terrain to create many different towns and nations with their own geography and history.

Basically, this is an attempt to create an "international" Minecraft map. So far I have demarcated parts of these territories:
- Sloboda Free State
- Federated Empire of Verdania
- Kingdom of Seeland
- Republic of Lithplatz
- Republic of Cavedon

I doubt this map will ever be complete. Right now, building up these nations is a huge task, and there's essentially no limit to their expansion: there are always more rivers to chart, more houses to build, more borders to survey... but there is certainly a "minimum completion level" I aim to reach. I want each capital city to be built up and seem complete. Right now only three have been started and the best one is probably less than half done.

So here's how I started! I generated a new world and promised that I would deal with whatever the RNG gave me, and I noticed there was a cool peninsula in front of me. I thought "the people who live here would have totally walled it off, fortified it and defended their only land entrance", so I started building towers and walls... then I thought "someone has to grow food, though" and started sinking some reclaimed-land farms on the other side of the lake I built all my countries around. This settlement became the naturally rich Kingdom of Seeland, with mines and farms and canals. Then I cleared off a smaller peninsula and thought that it should be some kind of fishing village. I got carried away and created the haphazard Lithplatz Town, which became yet another country. Right now Verdania and Cavedon have one or two outposts but nothing else, they only exist on the map.

Originally the whole map was called "Sloboda" after the first country I made, but I realized that the whole international world I had made wasn't supposed to be dominated by any one country, so I had to come up with something more general... and now you know.

I hope you enjoy exploring what I have made!
