Hi PMC.

It is with honor I welcome you to the forrest empire:

Rising Steed

This huge city has been underway for some time now, but now it's finally ready for the world to enjoy!
The theme of this city was to create life-like medieval/fantasy inspired city. Far away from the normal towns you'd normally see on servers.
You know, those rather borring, ugly, un-inspired plot based "towns"...

So in order to not do that, I aimed towards designing buildings, that resembles their respective purposes and the workspaces around them, like they actually belong and are used by "real" people.
Also I paid alot of attention to not making the buildings too "clean" or square if you wish.
It's not my belief, that workingclass homes back then where perfect, elaborate constructions so it's very much part of the theme to keep the buildings a bit "rough".

I hope you can see why I choose that path and of course that you like it as much as I do :-)

List of what's there:

  • Combined Cityhall & Courthouse
  • Church
  • Inn (Look closely and you might find a little surprice there)
  • Barracks with jail
  • Stables
  • Storagehouse
  • Blacksmith
  • Pharmacy
  • Loads and loads of houses
  • Massive Castle walls + Towers
  • Even bigger forrest, called "Firefly Forrest"
  • Tons of "ambient" stuff, like ponds, wells, bushes ect. ect. ect.

All of it custom made (mostly by hand) to serve specifik purposes.

Another VERY important point to this project is, that it serves as my tribute and thank you to EHAndrew, his server "Wildcraft" and the entire population of awesome people playing there!!

THANK YOU GUYS FOR BEING AWESOME!

Another equally important thank you goes to Novv! He is such an awesome builder/creator and he certainly deserves all the support he can get! I thank him particulary for the design of the horse I'm using in this project. It's his base design, I just altered it to better fit my project.

Lastly, I want you to feel free to use this project as you please :-) Plant it on your server, make YouTube videos, wrap it in paper and donate it to a ill donkey - Do whatever - Just remember this:

CREDIT ME AS AUTHOR, AS CREATOR, AS OWNER, AS YOUR GOD - Or I will have your mom for breakfeast tomorrow ;-)

I hope you will enjoy this original project for it is - Keep block'in people.

Additional Notes

I strongly recomend that you use Ravands Realistic textures, when exploring this project, otherwise it might look wrong!

Looks very nice, I love the way the trees are associated into the build, people typically just clear them all when they make a city. Keep up the good work.

Thank you very much! Yes, it's all on purpose. I wanted a more integrated look in order to enhance a intimate feeling in the city and to make it look like the city was build into the forrest and not the other way around.

It turned out well, that's probably the hardest part of building; working with the terrain and environment. It's something I'm still trying to master sadly.

Hard yes, but very rewarding in the end :) I'm also just an apprentice when it comes to building stuff, but time and effort pays off every now and then. However every good build is in harmony with it's surroundings, it has to be otherwise it will look odd.
