The Java version of The Timer is here!
Like on Bedrock, The Timer is a last man standing free for all class based PvP minigame with a few twists:
Each player has a timer. When your timer reaches 0, you die.
Until then, dying respawns you with some of your time, with the rest going to your killer.
There are three maps to choose from:
Caligean Desert: A small desert map with wide open spaces and a few cacti. Perfect of a 1 on 1 or a very hectic larger party.
Kopkor: A large futuristic city with a lot of vertical mobility. Better for larger groups of players or a good game of hide and seek.
Pitell: A medium modern city with a good mix of small and large indoor and outdoor area. Perfect for any size.
Each Class has 3 choices for each of 3 abilities, for a total of 27 possible configurations for each class.
Currently, there are 8 classes:
Assassin: A melee-focused glass cannon with fair mobility and limited ranged attack
Shade Knight: A melee-only tank class with a good amount of debuffs
Gunner: A highly ranged-focused class with good damage output but no melee options
Ninja: A ranged class with lower damage, but fair melee and mobility capabilities
Strategist: A jack-of-all-trades hybrid class that can summon minions
Fighter: Another Tank class, with lower damage and higher defense and mobility
Elementalist: The only purely mage class, with high ability damage and versatility
Machinist: A hyrbid Tank/mage class with good ability damage and adaptivity
The ability system is slightly different from our other projects: throwing an item uses the ability and places it on cooldown. When the cooldown is up, you will get another item. The eggs, snowballs, and splash potions are your first, second, and third abilities.
We haven't included the Oopsie bottle in this version, as 'whiffs' are far less common.
We also don't have settings implemented yet, but let's face it, quarter time die when time is zero is the way to play anyway, which is what we have here. We don't have a lot of experience with Java, so feedback is appreciated!
