Hi everyone we just passed the anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar on October 21st 1805, marking 218 years since the great victory achieved by the British Fleet led by Lord Nelson in HMS Victory,
Franco-Spanish fleet of 33 ships of the line plus 5 frigates
VS
British fleet of 27 ships of the line and 4 frigates
The French and spanish would lose 22 ships total to the British loss of none.
Displayed here are the three 100 gun ships in Nelsons fleet built from the ground up.
1. HMS Victory 1765, 1801 refit, Captain: Thomas Masterman Hardy, Admiral: Horatio Nelson
2. HMS Royal Sovereign 1786, 1804 refit, Captain Edward Rotherham, Admiral: Cuthbert Collingwood
3. HMS Britannia 1762, 1802 refit, Captain Charles Bullen, Admiral: William Carnegie
