The name is Latin for hunter/huntsman. This vessel is a relatively new design, Although it is slower than most scout ships, the Venator makes up for it with a huge size and the ability to go toe to toe with smaller dreadnought class ships. The Venator is designed to scout out battlefields from an extremely high altitude and then hunt down damaged, fleeing enemy ships near the tail end of the battle. Even though it is not the ships main purpose; it can hold its ground against larger ships. The ship is capable of doing small bombing runs with its miniscule bomb deck.


The Venator is armed with seven multi-purpose cannons (3 on each flank and 1 under-mounted on the bow) They can use heavy solid cannon shot to destroy the hulls of hostile ships, there are also incendiary rounds on board that can burn older non-fireproof ships to a crisp, And lastly the ship is armed with anti-personal grape shot that can decimate the crew of apposing ships with a single shot at the right angle. The two large powerful engines mounted on the stern on the of the ship give the vessel its great speed. This ship unlike other models runs on heated aternolium (mineral I made up for the book) instead of helium. The aternolium allows the ship to soar to immense heights that hydrogen ships cannot and is much less flammable. The ship utilizes a new steering mechanism known as a spine, it is living tissue of genetically engineered whale bone and tendons that make for a much more light weight and efficient steering system than sails do.

When I build and think up ships I like to make them lightly realistic, I see other people with these tiny little balloons holding up a massive mile wide airship, I'm not saying that that is bad, i just like to build relatively proportionally (This is not even close to realistic, but it is more so than others.)

I will admit to using a chart to find the perfect oval for the balloon but other than that it is 100 percent handbuilt
